Touch Typing

I remember, right upon entrance into 9th grade, there was a new class on my schedule. Of course, I don't exactly remember what it was called, but I specifically remember spending hours a week "playing" a game; a game which taught me to touch type. It was the bane of my existence for two whole years, constantly being chided on my "low words per minute score." And me, being the lazy child I was, didn't really care. That was, until the goody-goody of the class started to outscore me, and promptly made it to 50 words per minute.

I cracked. I swore I would beat her miserable honor student status into the ground with just this one class. She wasn't going to beat me! And for two years I was typing around 55 words per minute, and it felt amazing.

Skipping ahead seven years, I'm lucky if I can get out 40 words anymore. Then again, it doesn't really matter now, does it? There's no score to beat, there's no game to play, it's just getting the words out of your head, and if you're like me, that's the worst part.

Regardless, I have a bit of 1963 amazingness for you.

Yes, that's right, a touch typing book from the 60's. I bought it at a used book store for 75 cents, so I figured why not?Look at that pretty typewriter. Anyone have a guess on what it is?

There's an entire section on business and personal letters, along with three pages of salutations, forms of address, and closings. For an 80 page book, it's very detailed.
