Just to tell you know, that is a completely pointless post. I just like the difference between English and British. (don't even start)
"Let" mean "for rent" on most occasions, which amuses me greatly. I mean...if I tried to do that in American English it totally wouldn't make sense. "I'm going to let my car" would be completely stupid, but the grammatically correct way to say "I'm going to rent my car" in American English. But what I was really trying to say it "I'm going to let you borrow my car." See, now that makes sense.
Apparently I've been alone for too long. My grandmother can't have an intelligent conversation (I have to explain every detail of what I say and what it means), and I've think I've lost my mind.

British English is fun! Although one has to be careful, as I once traumatized a British friend of mine when I forgot that "pants" to them means underclothes. Oh dear.
