I don't know if this is some kind of ironic luck, or fate, but I found an Olympia DeLuxe (SM-3? I dunno) at the antique store for $20. It's reddish brown (seriously, this sounds eerily similar), and horrendously dirty and sticky and gross. But nothing's wrong with it, and I'm tempted to go back tomorrow and see what I can do. I was driven out by store associates (lol) and didn't get a good look, but the case is in tact, and so is the typewriter. I can't for the life of me justify purchasing it, except for that it's lighter than my Underwood, but I can't predict what my mom would say.
I think I'll have to buy it anyway, just so clickthing can laugh at me.
Can you haggle at antique stores?

Oh Hell to the Yes. If you can degoop it, it's a great machine.
Hell Yes to buying it, or Hell Yes to haggling? Because I'm pretty sure I'm getting it no matter what.
Point out the stickiness and see if they'll go lower, but $20 is a steal if the machine's in good shape otherwise. If it's rusty or nasty, though, give it a pass. Pop it out of the case and give it a good looking-over. Hell Yes to both, then. :-)
Shoot, I'm hoping for $10! See if I'm lucky :) Hopefully it is just dirty, or else I'll be real sad.
